A Comprehensive Guide to Yamaha U1 and its Variants
Welcome to our comprehensive guide to the various Yamaha U1 piano variants, including the Yamaha U10BL, U10A, YU10, UX1, YU1S, YUS, and more. These pianos are closely related to the renowned Yamaha U1 upright model and are built to cater to both students and experienced pianists.

Now, let's dive into the details of these remarkable Yamaha U1 variants:
Yamaha U10BL
Manufactured in Japan between 1987 and 1990, the U10BL consistently delivers an exceptional playing experience, on par with the U1.
Yamaha U10A
Built in Japan from 1990 to 1991, the U10A is a highly consistent model, known for its top-quality craftsmanship and enjoyable playability. It matches the Yamaha U1 in terms of quality.
Yamaha U1A
The Yamaha U1A is an official Yamaha U1 model, produced from 1983 to 1988. Crafted in Japan, it offers a fantastic touch and tone. We often have these models in stock; refer to our stocklist for videos
Yamaha UX1
Manufactured in Japan from 1983 to 1988, the UX1 is another model worthy of consideration, standing on par with the Yamaha U1. It features a unique X-shaped frame at the back and a front panel split into three sections, distinguishing it from the U1.
Yamaha U100
Made in Japan in the mid-1990s, the U100 is a close relative of the Yamaha U1. Both pianos originate from the same factory, boasting great touch and tone. The U100's top panel showcases a line of horizontal beading, while the U1 typically features a single, flat top panel. Musically, you can expect comparable performance and quality.
Yamaha YU10
Built in Japan between 2001 and 2004, the YU10 is a remarkable, albeit rare, model. Its unique feature is a top panel divided into three sections. While we've had a few of these in stock, keep in mind that their sound may be quite powerful for smaller music rooms. In such cases, you might find a Yamaha U1 from the early to mid-1980s more suitable.
Yamaha YU1
Manufactured in Japan from around 1997 to 2000, the Yamaha YU1 consistently produces outstanding sound. These pianos are often priced higher due to their relative youth and limited availability. The "YU" prefix indicates that it is one of Yamaha's "hand-finished" models.
Yamaha YU1S
The Yamaha YU1S is essentially the same as the Yamaha YU1 but comes with a silent system integrated for quieter practice sessions.
Yamaha YU1SXG
Made in Japan, the YU1SXG is similar to the YU1S, but it features a self-playing disklavier system, adding a modern twist to this classic instrument.
Yamaha YUS
Crafted in Japan, the YUS ranks among Yamaha's top-tier pianos alongside the Yamaha U1. The YUS includes upgraded hammer felt and other enhancements. While these models are rarer to find, they represent a pinnacle of quality and performance.
